President Parham and David Herbst
November 15, 2023

During a reception in November 2023 at California State University-Dominguez Hills honoring prominent Toro alumni (including my good friend Mayor Karen Bass), President Dr. Thomas Parham surprised me by calling me up and presenting me with his presidential challenge coin – one of only twenty people ever to be given this honor.

Dr. P, as his friends call him, singled out my help and our Vectis DC team’s efforts to advance the good work of CSUDH both in Washington, DC and locally. I was glad my superstar colleague Janet Clayton was with me last night and happy to receive this honor on Vectis' behalf.

It was totally unexpected and meant so much. I was left speechless – not an easy feat!
As a Loyola Marymount University alum, I'm proud to also be an honorary Toro.

You can read more about Mayor Bass' Presidential lecture at CSUDH here.

It is an absolute pleasure to work with Dr. Melanie Lundquist on her philanthropic and social initiatives. It was an honor to join her at the Aspen Ideas Festival as she sat down for an on-stage one-on-one conversation with Aspen's President & CEO Dan Porterfield about her work in philanthropy and education.

Melanie is a true "activist philanthropist," and dear friend. Congratulations, Melanie!

David Herbst and Mayor Bass
November 18, 2022

Today is a great day for our City. Mayor-elect Bass is an extraordinarily smart servant leader. I’ve known her for a very long time. It was an honor to support her election and a privilege to stand with her and her supporters today as she addressed our City.

I’ve seen her efforts change lives, especially for our foster youth. I often say that she chose a forgotten constituency and she lifted them up — our kids in foster care. She advocated and created real change to our foster youth system that has helped so many. She rolls up her sleeves, she does the hard work and she does it for the right reasons.

Los Angeles is in good hands. Congratulations Madam Mayor-elect Bass.

I join all Americans -- no matter political party -- to say thank you for the life and service of iconic civil rights leader, Congressman John Lewis. In 2015, I had the honor of Congressman Lewis sharing with me photos from the first time he was arrested -- it was an emotional encounter, I will never forget. We should never forget his sacrifice and courage. God bless Congressman John Lewis.

Shoah Foundation 60 Minutes
April 6, 2020

We were thrilled to work with the producers of 60 Minutes and legendary reporter Lesley Stahl on this extended look at Dimensions Testimony, an initiative from our client the USC Shoah Foundation. Dimensions in Testimony has revolutionized the concept of oral history by integrating advanced filmmaking techniques, specialized display technologies, and next-generation natural language processing. Each specially recorded interview enables viewers to ask questions of the survivor about their life experiences, and hear responses in real-time, lifelike conversation. Questions are answered naturally, as if the survivor is in the room, and through artificial intelligence, the more questions asked, the better the technology becomes.
