The Situation
Like other major venues throughout the nation, the Rose Bowl was forced to close its doors during all major events in 2020 and 2021. This resulted in a near total loss of revenue — revenue needed to run its day-to-day operations.
The Strategy
Positioned the Rose Bowl in a national coalition of venues to ensure inclusion in the shuttered venues relief package.
Developed a comprehensive strategy to educate Congress and the SBA, who initially turned down their initial application for up to $10M in federal shuttered venue grant funding, that America’s Stadium is much more than a sports venue.
The Result
On appeal, the SBA reviewed the evidence provided and reversed its initial decision — awarding the Rose Bowl a much-needed $10 million in reimbursement for its lost revenues.
